Ashbourne Heritage Society aims to promote, research, publicise any aspect of the history and heritage of Ashbourne and the surrounding area. We see heritage as a much wider subject than just local history.
How we do this
offer an annual programme of heritage-related lectures (currently online via Zoom)
organise visits to historic buildings and sites of interest, both local and further afield. In the past these have included trips to the 13th century church of St Mary & St Barlok, Norbury, Kew Palace, Blenheim Palace, and an annual local walk.
participate in local exhibitions and events. In 2017, we were major contributors to the highly successful three month long Ashbourne Treasures exhibition.
Meetings normally take place from October to June on the second Tuesday on the month at 7.30pm at St Oswald’s Church Centre, School Lane, Ashbourne, DE6 1AN. Due to the current restrictions, the 2021/22 talks in this autumn will be presented online via Zoom. From the start of 2022 they will be a mixture or Zoom, church hall venue and visits. Please see the programme page for further details.
